Minimalistic fuzzy ontology reasoning: An application to Building Information Modeling

This paper presents a minimalistic reasoning algorithm to solve imprecise instance retrieval in fuzzy ontologies with application querying Building Information Models (BIMs)—a knowledge representation formalism used the construction industry. Our proposal is based on novel lossless reduction of crisp tasks, which can be processed by any Description Logics reasoner. We implemented and performed an empirical evaluation its performance several tasks: interoperation classical reasoners (Hermit TrOWL), initialization time (comparing TrOWL SPARQL engine), use different data structures (hash tables, databases, programming interfaces). show that our software efficiently very expressive queries not available nowadays regular or semantic BIMs tools.
